Ten public sales of the Orlando Magic opener stub since 2012. The signature took 61% of the money, the year of sale set the rest, and the grade on the label came third.

All 27 graded copies of the Shaquille O'Neal debut ticket by PSA grade, read live from PSA on 6 October 2026. PSA keeps unsigned tickets and PSA/DNA-signed tickets in two separate reports, and these bars add them together: 10 unsigned, 17 signed. By grade the split is Authentic 1 unsigned and 3 signed, GOOD 2 all four signed, VG 3 the one unsigned, VG-EX 4 one and two, EX 5 two and two, EX-MT 6 two and three, NM 7 one and one, NM-MT 8 two and one. The single copy above NM-MT 8 is signed; PSA reports it only as graded higher than 8.

Seventeen of the 27 graded copies carry O'Neal's autograph. On most debut tickets the signed copies are the exception. On this one they are the majority, and it shows in the sales: five of the ten public sales are signed, and they took $24,740 of the $40,494 spent, 61% of the money. Everything below comes from those ten sales, November 2012 to August 2026, in the sold data we compile from Heritage, Goldin and Fanatics Collect, plus one Huggins & Scott result and two eBay results recorded by WorthPoint. Each PSA grade was read off the slab rather than lifted from the auction title. The unsigned population is PSA's own count from our 8 July 2026 census of the ticket report, confirmed live on 6 October 2026; the signed population was read live the same day from PSA's separate PSA/DNA report.

The debut was the Magic's season opener, a Friday night at the Orlando Arena on 6 November 1992, with Miami the visitors. The Magic won 110-100 in front of 15,151. O'Neal played 32 minutes for 12 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks, turned the ball over eight times and fouled out with 1:32 left, per the Basketball-Reference box score and the Los Angeles Times report of 7 November 1992. The ticket says GAME 1, FRIDAY, 7:15 P.M., and the graded copies carry face values of $10, $15, $20 and $25. Only the stub form has been graded. The lot titles that read "vs Miami Heat" are correct; the game was in Orlando, not Miami, which matters because the ticket PSA catalogues as his Pro Debut three weeks earlier is a Miami Arena preseason ticket (see the end of this post).

All ten public sales of the 6 November 1992 Shaquille O'Neal debut ticket, oldest first. Prices are the realised total including buyer's premium. Grades are PSA's, read off each slab. The 2016 Authentic is read from the listing; it is the only unsigned Authentic in PSA's report, and the slab's own record predates the fields we hold. The July 2023 eBay sale did not show a legible cert. Goldin bid counts are shown where the lot closed after 2021.

The signed half of the market has a median of $3,904 and the unsigned half $3,500, so the gap in the middle is small. The gap at the top is not: the record is a signed NM-MT 8 at $9,300 in January 2024, and the unsigned record is $7,800, paid in April 2022 for a VG-EX 4. Since the start of 2023, seven copies have sold and five were signed. The two unsigned ones were the $3,900 Goldin NM-MT 8 and a $3,500 EX-MT 6 on eBay.

Grade moved the price less than the signature and the year did

Signed PSA NM-MT 8 Shaquille O'Neal NBA debut ticket stub, cert 65791219, the $9,300 record
Cert 65791219, the $9,300 record. PSA graded the ticket NM-MT 8 and authenticated the signature without grading it, so the label reads AUTO AUTH. A $20 seat in section 231. · Sold at Heritage, January 2024. Image: PSA
Two NM-MT 8 copies have sold ten months apart. The unsigned one made $3,900 at Goldin in March 2023. The signed one made $9,300 at Heritage in January 2024, 138% more for the same grade, and its autograph is the only one of the five signed sales that PSA authenticated without a number. Three VG-EX 4 copies have sold. The unsigned one made $7,800 in April 2022, the first signed one $6,900 in August 2024, and the second signed one $2,684 in August 2026. A signature plus four years cost that grade 66% of its 2022 price. On this ticket the order of what sets the price is the year, then the autograph, then the grade.

Four of the signed copies came from one submission

PSA numbers certs in sequence, so consecutive numbers mean one submission. Certs 65791155, 65791156 and 65791157 are the EX-MT 6, VG-EX 4 and EX 5 signed copies, graded together, and 65791219, the NM-MT 8 record, is 62 numbers on in the same batch. Three of the four have since sold at Heritage, in January 2024, October 2025 and August 2026, for $9,300, $3,904 and $2,684. The EX-MT 6 has not been offered. One consignor's signing session accounts for three of the five signed sales on record.

A second run shows the same habit across O'Neal's career. Cert 69776663 is a signed Authentic debut stub; 69776667 is a signed Authentic copy of his Lakers debut; 69776679 is a signed Authentic 2000 Finals Game 6 full ticket, which sold at Goldin for $2,836.50 in May 2024. Same submission, three moments, one signature. O'Neal has signed tickets for decades, and the graded supply reflects it: of the 27 debut copies, 17 were signed before they were slabbed.

The 1 November 1996 Lakers debut full ticket is the more common of his NBA firsts at 20 unsigned copies, seven of them NM-MT 8 and one MINT 9, because it is also Steve Nash's NBA debut and the Lakers' home opener, and the Ticketmaster full tickets survived in quantity. Our own scans hold a further five signed copies that sit in the PSA/DNA report, which we did not read live. The LSU debut is one signed stub, and it sold once

Signed PSA Authentic ticket stub from Shaquille O'Neal's LSU debut, 15 November 1989, LSU versus Southern Mississippi, cert 150496765
Cert 150496765, the only graded ticket from O'Neal's first college game. PSA Authentic with a PSA/DNA GEM MT 10 signature. The stub reads N.I.T. First Round, LSU vs Southern Mississippi, LSU Assembly Center, Wed Nov 15 1989, $9.00. · Sold at Goldin, September 2026. Image: PSA
O'Neal's first official game for LSU was the Preseason NIT first round on Wednesday 15 November 1989, LSU 91, Southern Mississippi 80 at the Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, per Sports-Reference and the 1989-90 LSU season record. PSA's label credits him with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 16 minutes. One copy has been graded, signed, and it sold at Goldin on 27 September 2026 for $4,272.44 on 35 bids. That is a college ticket, not a professional debut, and it is already the second most expensive O'Neal debut ticket of any kind. PSA also catalogues an 8 November 1989 exhibition against Athletes in Action as his NCAA Preseason Debut; one copy is graded, PSA 6, and it has never sold. An exhibition is not the debut.

The alternatives, from a $53 exhibition stub to a $4,272 college debut

Collectors who cannot find or afford the 6 November stub buy around it. The table lists the moments that come up, with the PSA population and the sale range from the data we track. Two of them are preseason games that lots describe as a debut. Neither is the debut: the NBA counts regular-season games, and the first of those was 6 November.

Signed PSA EX 5 full ticket from the 16 October 1992 Magic at Heat preseason game, catalogued by PSA as Shaquille O'Neal's pro debut, cert 98807563
Cert 98807563, the 16 October 1992 preseason full ticket PSA labels Shaquille O'Neal Pro Debut. A $0.00 complimentary seat, section 125. One copy graded. · Sold at Goldin, December 2024. Image: PSA
The preseason ticket is where the catalogue and the record part ways. O'Neal's first game in a Magic uniform was an exhibition at the Miami Arena on 16 October 1992, Magic 107, Heat 102, and PSA labels the one graded full ticket from it Shaquille O'Neal Pro Debut. It is signed, PSA EX 5 with a PSA/DNA 8 autograph, and it is the one O'Neal ticket with a documented flip: $437.98 at Goldin on 6 December 2024 on 42 bids, then $4,999 on eBay on 15 March 2025, the same cert. The next night's exhibition in Orlando is labelled Pro Home Debut and has six graded copies that sell for $53 to $690. Both are preseason. Our preseason debut ticket post measures how far that label trails the real thing across the hobby. The Lakers debut is the cheap way into an O'Neal first, and it carries a second one, Steve Nash's NBA debut; Kobe Bryant was on the roster and did not play, two nights before his own debut, per Basketball-Reference and the 1996-97 Lakers season record. His Miami Heat debut, 3 November 2004 at the Nets, 16 points in 22 minutes per Basketball-Reference and the AP report, has no graded ticket in our census of PSA's catalogue or in our scans. The 19 June 2000 Finals clincher, 41 points and 12 rebounds and the Finals MVP per Basketball-Reference and the series record, is the most common O'Neal ticket here at 36 copies across five forms and sells for a median of $255.

Ten sales in fourteen years is a thin market, and the two reports PSA keeps make it easy to undercount the supply. A buyer in 2026 paying the signed median of about $3,900 is paying for a ticket with 26 graded siblings, 17 of them also signed, and a price history whose top end was set in a year the whole hobby has since retreated from.
