A David Beckham debut ticket from Manchester made $15,028, the Los Angeles one has never sold

Seventeen public sales, $164.70 to $15,027.60, and a single League Cup tie in September 1992 takes 76% of the money. His MLS debut has two graded copies and no sale at all.

Beckham has more first appearances than any footballer we track, and asking what a David Beckham debut ticket is worth means asking which one. PSA catalogues thirteen: a Manchester United senior debut, a first start, a first Champions League tie, a first Premier League match, a first FA Cup tie, an England cap, a World Cup match, a European Championship match, a Real Madrid debut, a La Liga debut, an MLS debut and a PSG debut. Together they account for 149 graded tickets. Only six of the thirteen have ever sold in public.

The figures here come from 17 single-ticket sales across Goldin, Heritage and Fanatics Collect, 10 January 2022 to 2 July 2026, worth $31,086.80 in total. We built the sample from PSA's own item ids first and only then added a title search, because an English match ticket is usually catalogued by fixture rather than by player, so a search for the name alone misses lots outright. Multi-item and collection lots are excluded from every price below (the archive holds none for these items). Sixteen of the 17 carry a certification number whose grade we re-read from PSA rather than lifting from the auction title. Population counts are a live read of PSA's report on 14 August 2026 for seven of the thirteen debut moments, and our 8 July 2026 population census for the other six.

Where did the graded copies go?

Split the 149 tickets by the shirt he was wearing and it is not close. His debuts at Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and PSG produced ten graded tickets between them. His Manchester United and England debuts produced 139.

Graded population of every David Beckham debut ticket PSA catalogues, grouped by the club or country he was debuting for, counting all forms (stub, full, pass). Manchester United covers six debut matches, England three, Real Madrid two, LA Galaxy and PSG one each. Figures are a live PSA read on 14 August 2026 for seven of the thirteen and our 8 July 2026 census for the other six.

Take the two ends of that chart. The 23 September 1992 League Cup tie against Brighton and Hove Albion, where a 17-year-old Beckham came off the bench in a 1-1 draw, exists as 13 graded stubs and nothing else. PSA catalogues no full ticket and no pass from that match. The 9 August 2007 MLS debut at D.C. United, the first league match of his American career, exists as two graded full tickets and nothing else. No stub of it has ever been submitted.

The English debut survives only as torn stubs, the American one only as intact fulls, so there is no full-versus-stub choice to make on either. For a buyer the effect is the same in both directions: one form to chase, and in Los Angeles two copies of it.

What has each debut actually sold for?

Every public sale of a David Beckham debut ticket in our archive, oldest first. Prices are the realised total including buyer's premium. Bid counts come from the auction house's own lot record; Heritage and Fanatics Collect do not publish one. Cert numbers link to the graded example in our scans database.

Across all 17 the low is $164.70, the high is $15,027.60 and the median is $660. The 23 September 1992 stub accounts for eight of the sales and $23,628.10 of the $31,086.80, which is 76% of everything spent on a Beckham debut ticket since January 2022. His England debut has sold once, for $244. His first Champions League tie has sold twice, for $960 and $164.70. Seven of the thirteen debuts have never been offered at all.

The last cell in the table has no cert and no link, and that is worth saying plainly. The 2 July 2026 Fanatics Collect sale of a PSA GD 2 stub from the 1998 World Cup debut against Romania, $450, is the most recent Beckham debut ticket to change hands, and it is the one sale in the sample whose grade we could not confirm against the slab. The most recent sale we can verify end to end is the $1,250.50 stub on 14 June 2026.

Did the American debut ever sell?

No. Not once, at any grade, at any of the three houses we aggregate. PSA's 2007 MLS set is three items and four graded tickets in total: the two copies of the 9 August 2007 debut at D.C. United, a PSA GD 2 and a PSA VG-EX 4, plus one Galaxy home ticket from 4 July 2007 and one Toronto FC match. The friendly against Chelsea on 21 July 2007, his first appearance in a Galaxy shirt, is not catalogued by PSA at all. There is no graded ticket of it to buy.

So the answer to which Beckham debut to buy is partly made for you. Two copies of the MLS debut exist, the PSA 4 is the finest that will ever be graded unless another turns up, and neither has been offered in an archive that reaches back to 2003. A buyer has to wait for one of two people to sell. A buyer who wants the Manchester United debut has had eight chances since January 2022, one of them this June.

What do the cert numbers show?

No cert in this sample has sold twice. All 17 sales are 17 different tickets, so there is no true resale to price the market against. There is something close to one. PSA issues cert numbers in sequence, so tickets graded in the same submission carry consecutive numbers, and three pairs of consecutive certs from the 1992 stub have come to auction separately.

Certs 64357057 and 64357058 are neighbours and both grade PSA VG-EX 4, the finest grade the ticket exists in. One sold in May 2022 for $2,160, the other in November 2022 for $660, a 69% fall in six months on a slab that is identical in every respect a buyer can see. Certs 64066730 and 64066731 are also neighbours, both PSA PR 1, and went the other way: $360 in June 2022, then $780 eleven weeks later. Certs 63740211 and 63740212 were split by four years, $2,940 for the PSA 1.5 in April 2022 and $1,250.50 for the PSA 1 in June 2026.

Three pairs, three different outcomes, and the same grade out of the same submission has sold at both $2,160 and $660. For a ticket with 13 copies in the world and eight of them already sold, the sale date has moved the price at least as much as the label has. That is a thinner and more volatile record than the decade of Messi ticket prices we track, and thinner again than Cristiano Ronaldo's debut ticket, which our July 2026 read put at 84 graded copies against Beckham's 13.

Where is the highest grade?

The finest David Beckham debut ticket in existence is a PSA MINT 9, and it is not the one anybody is bidding on. It is a full ticket from the 1 September 1996 England debut against Moldova, one copy, confirmed by a live PSA read on 14 August 2026: a PSA 8 of that item reads 19 at its grade with exactly one graded higher. It has never been to public auction. The best that has actually sold is a PSA NM-MT 8 of the same ticket, $244 in April 2026.

That ticket is the finest, the most complete and the most heavily graded Beckham debut there is, 47 full tickets and seven stubs, and it sold for $244 against $15,027.60 for the torn Manchester United stub. A never-torn full from a World Cup qualifier England won 3-0 is not a hard thing to find, and 20 of the 47 grade PSA 8 or better. The 1992 stub had to be torn at a turnstile and then kept for thirty years by somebody with no reason to think the substitute mattered.

The most recent verified sale of the Manchester United debut, cert 63740211, graded PSA PR 1, sold at Goldin on 14 June 2026 for $1,250.50 after 24 bids. Its neighbour in the same grading submission, cert 63740212, made $2,940 four years earlier. Goldin's own lot description quoted PSA's figures for it correctly: five copies at that grade, eight graded higher.

So what is one worth today?

For the 23 September 1992 Manchester United debut stub, the working number is the June 2026 result, $1,250.50 for a PSA PR 1 on 24 bids, and it is the only sale of that ticket in three and a half years. Above that grade the record is thin and old. The PSA VG-EX 4 is the finest that exists, three copies, and its last print was $660 in November 2022; the one before that was $2,160. A PSA FR 1.5 has one data point, $2,940 in April 2022. The January 2022 record of $15,027.60 was set at the top of the market on a lot titled Pop 1, and PSA's live report now shows five copies at PSA 1 with eight graded higher, two of those PSA 1s carrying lower cert numbers than the one that sold. The next highest price any Beckham debut ticket has reached is $3,480.

Everything else prices in the low hundreds. The Premier League debut stub is a $480 to $840 item across three sales, the Champions League debut made $960 as a full and $164.70 as a stub, the first Manchester United start made $180 as a stub against $3,480 for the only full ticket in existence, and the England debut made $244. Which debut you buy is the whole decision, and the same question is worth asking of Kylian Mbappé's debut ticket. For Beckham the answer is a League Cup second round tie he came on as a substitute in, aged 17, four years before his first England cap and fifteen years before Los Angeles.
