What a Victor Wembanyama debut ticket is worth, and why only ten have sold
The Victor Wembanyama debut ticket is recent enough that we hold its entire auction history, and the history is short. Ten sales, nine of them inside seven months of 2024, then almost nothing.
Ten copies of the ticket have sold at public auction, for a total of $10,960.48. The prices run from $360 to $1,891, at a median of $1,169.37. Every figure here comes from those ten sales, tracked across Goldin, Heritage and Fanatics Collect, and every grade was read back off the PSA cert rather than lifted from the auction title: nine of the ten certs resolve to PSA's own record for the item, and the tenth carries a cert number PSA assigns to something else entirely, so its grade rests on the seller's description alone. No multi-item or collection lot appears in the sample, so one price means one ticket. Populations are as of 14 August 2026, read live from PSA against the per-grade grid in our population database.
Nine of the ten Victor Wembanyama debut ticket sales landed inside 217 days of 2024
The first copy reached auction on 8 March 2024, four and a half months after the game, because nobody could sell a graded one until PSA had graded one. The ninth sold on 11 October 2024. That window is the market: nine sales in seven months, seven of them gem mint, all but two at Goldin. Then it stopped. 576 days passed before the next one, and in the twenty-two months since that October afternoon exactly one Wembanyama debut ticket has changed hands in public.
What is being bought is a complete, untorn ticket, and that is a fact about 2023 rather than about this game. Nobody handed a stub back at the turnstile in San Antonio; the gate scanned a phone. PSA catalogues four printed forms from the night and no stub at all: the full ticket, a commemorative marked not valid for admission, a parking pass and a pre-game railing pass. Ninety-eight copies of the full ticket exist, against seven commemoratives, one parking pass and one railing pass, so 107 objects in total carry the date. The wider pattern, that digital entry turned the intact full ticket into the default survivor and pushed the whole population upward in grade, is the subject of modern graded tickets.
The game gave collectors an unusually clean thing to buy. Wembanyama's NBA debut was also his home debut: the Spurs opened the season at Frost Bank Center on Wednesday 25 October 2023 and lost 126 to 119 to Dallas. He was 19, fouled his way through three quarters, and finished with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting, nine of them in the fourth. Luka Doncic had 33 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists on the other side, which is why some of these slabs carry his name too, and why the market for a Luka Doncic debut ticket overlaps this one at the edges.
The floor and the ceiling were fourteen days apart in June 2024
That 2.4 times spread on identical slabs inside a fortnight is the honest answer to what a gem mint copy is worth. Across all seven GEM MT 10 sales the band runs $794.22 to $1,891, with a median of $1,220 and an average of $1,286.93, and there is no trend inside it: the last one to sell, on 11 October 2024, made $1,465.22, almost exactly what the first one made seven months earlier. Bidding did fall over the same stretch. The opening lot drew 64 bids, the most any copy has attracted; by October the same ticket in the same grade was drawing 35.
PSA 10 is both the highest grade that exists and the highest that has traded. Sixty-six of the ninety-eight graded copies are gem mint, 67% of the population, and none has ever been graded higher. Below that the ladder thins fast: 17 at MINT 9, 5 at NM-MT 8, 4 at EX-MT 6, 2 each at VG 3, GOOD 2 and Authentic, and not a single PSA 1, 4, 5 or 7 anywhere in the report. Only three copies below gem mint have ever been offered publicly, which is why the gem mint band is the only part of this market with enough sales to quote.
Six of the seven gem mint sales came out of one grading submission
PSA issues cert numbers in sequence, so a single submission occupies a block of consecutive numbers. Certs 86707250 to 86707268 are nineteen in a row, and every one of them is this ticket: eighteen graded GEM MT 10 and one MINT 9. That one block holds 27% of every gem mint copy in existence. Six of the nineteen have sold, all six gem mint, for $7,544.48 between 7 June and 11 October 2024. The only gem mint sale that did not come from it is the March opener, cert 86333958, which made $1,464 on 64 bids.
So the whole of 2024 was one owner releasing one holding, roughly a copy a month, and the market ended when they stopped. Thirteen of that block have never been offered. Read that way, the 576-day silence is not a collapse in demand, it is the absence of a seller. Zion Williamson's debut ticket, the previous No. 1 pick to arrive with this much noise, ran into the same structural problem from the other direction, and we broke that one down in the Zion Williamson debut ticket post.

No cert appears twice in that table. Not one of the ninety-eight copies has been to auction more than once, so every sale on record is a first sale. On a ticket old enough to have a resale history that would be unremarkable; on one graded inside the last three years it means the market has never yet had to price the same object a second time, and every figure above is therefore a first-owner price rather than a tested one.
The only Wembanyama debut ticket sold since October 2024 was the worst copy PSA has graded
So the most recent evidence available is a bottom-of-the-report copy making the middle of the gem mint range, on the thinnest bidding the ticket has seen. Those two readings pull in opposite directions and neither settles the question, which is what a ten-sale history looks like. What can be said flatly: the last gem mint copy to sell made $1,465.22 on 11 October 2024, that figure is now twenty-two months old, and nothing has tested it since.
The rest of Wembanyama's catalogue prices far below the debut and shows the same thin trading. His Summer League debut, 7 July 2023 at the Thomas & Mack Center, exists in 17 graded copies and has sold twice, a MINT 9 for $335.50 in August 2024 and a PSA 1.5 for $89 in October 2025. His first 5x5 game, 23 February 2024 against the Lakers, exists in four copies and has sold once, a MINT 9 for $61. PSA also catalogues his preseason pro debut against Oklahoma City, his first NBA road game at the Clippers, his first meeting with LeBron James, his Olympic debut for France and four separate 2023 draft passes, and every one of those exists in one or two graded copies and has never been publicly offered. Nothing from his Metropolitans 92 season in France is catalogued as a Wembanyama item at all.
A gem mint copy is a $1,200 ticket, on a band of $794 to $1,891 and a median of $1,220 across seven sales. Below that the record is too thin to quote a range: one MINT 9 has sold, at $372, one Authentic at $1,220, and one copy sold as an NM-MT 8 at $360 on a cert we cannot confirm. EX-MT 6, VG 3 and GOOD 2 have never traded, in either direction, at any price. Ten sales out of ninety-eight copies means 90% of this ticket has never been to auction, and thirteen of those unsold copies sit in the one submission that supplied most of the sales we do have. The next time that owner lists one, it will set the price on its own.
