Lionel Messi scored his first professional goal on 1 May 2005 for FC Barcelona against Albacete in La Liga. At just 17 years old, he latched onto a perfectly weighted chip from Ronaldinho and delicately lifted the ball over the goalkeeper after having a similar goal disallowed moments earlier. The strike made him the youngest goalscorer in Barcelona’s league history at the time and marked the beginning of his legendary career.
