Every World Cup ticket auction result from Goldin's Global Football sale

Thirty-two graded football tickets closed in one Goldin sale on 26 July 2026 for $119,594. A Messi ticket PSA had never catalogued before took 27.5% of the money on its own.

Goldin's 2026 Global Football Auction Part 2 closed on 26 July 2026. Thirty-two graded or signed ticket lots sold for a combined $119,594.16 all in, from $98,028 in hammer bids plus the 22% buyer's premium, across 583 bids. Every price below comes from our sales record, which tracks closed lots at Goldin, Heritage and Fanatics Collect. Every population figure was read live off each cert's own PSA page on 28 July 2026 and is quoted as population at that grade, followed by the number graded higher.

Top ten World Cup ticket auction results from the 26 July 2026 sale, each against the most recent comparable sale in our records. "Same stub" means the identical PSA item, not the identical slab.

Four of the ten beat their last comparable sale, four came in under it, and two had no precedent at all. The two with no precedent are the interesting ones, because both are Qatar 2022 items that had never reached auction in that exact form before. The top lot is one of them.

The $32,940 ticket got its own line in the population report

Lionel Messi signed 2022 World Cup Final VIP full ticket, PSA MINT 9 with PSA/DNA GEM MT 10 autograph, cert 162139583
The physical ticket is a different object from the one most collectors have seen. VIP is printed in the gate, level and access fields, there is no gates-open time, and the fine print reads "Not For Sale" and "Not Transferable". · Image: Goldin
The label on this slab reads MESSI 1ST WC CHAMPIONSHIP-VIP, and that suffix is the whole story. PSA had already been grading 18 December 2022 Final tickets for three years in two catalogue lines, the standard ticket and a Hospitality variant. It had never opened a third. Read live on 28 July 2026, cert 162139583 returns a PSA/DNA population of 1 with none graded higher. Our July 2026 population census, taken on 8 July, holds 45 catalogue entries under this World Cup heading and no entry at all for this item. The variety is that new.

Goldin's catalogue description places the ticket in the Pearl Lounge at Lusail Stadium, a 400-seat VIP section whose guests that night included Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a run of federation officials and former World Cup winners. Nearly 89,000 people were in the stadium. The VIP section was 0.45% of them, and unlike a general-admission ticket it could not be bought or transferred, so almost none of them entered the collectors' market. That is the scarcity argument, and it is the one bidders paid for. The lot took 44 bids, behind only the inscribed Messi Final ticket on 51 and the 1930 stub on 49.

At $32,940 it is the third-highest Messi ticket sale in our records, out of 316 tracked. Only two have gone higher: a signed Final full ticket in a BGS Gem Mint 10 holder that made $87,840 in December 2025, and the 2003 FC Barcelona debut full ticket at $49,200 in February 2022. It also beat the closest thing to a like-for-like comparable. The August 2023 sale was a PSA 9 with a PSA/DNA 10 autograph as well, but a Hospitality ticket, and it made $22,800. A signed Final stub at the identical grade pair made $29,280 in April 2026.

One match paid for 55% of the auction

Four separate lots in this sale were tickets to the same ninety minutes, Argentina against France on 18 December 2022. Together they made $66,124, or 55.3% of everything the auction took. They were not four copies of one ticket. They were four different tiers of access to the same building, and they priced in that order.

The four 18 December 2022 World Cup Final lots in this auction. All four carry a Messi signature; the grades run in the opposite direction to the prices.

The second lot carried an inscription, 22 W.C CAMPEONES, on top of the signature, and it cleared a PSA 8 with a PSA/DNA 10 autograph that sold eight months earlier by 36%. The fourth lot is the cheapest signed Final full ticket we have ever recorded, at $4,697 against $10,065 for a PSA 2 in March 2024, and the reason is legibility rather than grade: at BGS 4 with a plain Beckett authentication rather than a numeric autograph grade, it has neither the item condition nor the graded signature the market is now paying for. The commemorative at $5,307 is a different object again. Its label reads NOT VALID/ADM, so it never admitted anyone. PSA has graded 22 copies of the commemorative in total, and cert 116745865 reads a PSA/DNA population of two at its grade pair with one graded higher. It is the first commemorative from this match to reach auction in our records.

The oldest ticket in the sale had the shortest population

1930 World Cup ticket stub, Argentina vs Chile at Estadio Centenario Montevideo, PSA VG 3, cert 157238637
Guillermo Stabile scored twice inside twenty minutes in a 3-1 win, and a brawl broke out before half time. He finished the tournament as its top scorer. · Image: Goldin
Argentina against Chile, 22 July 1930, Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the first World Cup. The stub is printed 1er CAMPEONATO MUNDIAL DE FOOTBALL with the ground's four stands set in a ring, and the line at the foot instructs the holder to keep it. Cert 157238637 reads a population of 1 at VG 3 with none graded higher, and five graded in total across every tier. Goldin called it Pop 1 in the lot title and, unusually, that checks out against PSA. It took 49 bids, the most in the sale, and made $12,200.

Six weeks earlier a different 1930 stub, the one from Stabile's Argentina debut and hat-trick, sold for $7,320 at PSA 1. The Argentina vs Chile stub made 67% more at two grades higher. There are very few 1930 data points to work from, four sales in total in our records, so the honest read is that this is a market being priced for the first time rather than a trend.

Four grades of one 1958 stub sold within the same hour

The clearest thing in the whole auction is the 1958 World Cup Final stub, Brazil 5 Sweden 2, the match where Pele scored his fifth and sixth World Cup goals at seventeen. Four copies of the identical PSA item sold in this sale at four different grades, which is as close to a controlled experiment as the ticket market offers.

One item, four grades, one auction. Population at grade and the number graded higher were read live from each cert on 28 July 2026. PSA has graded 105 copies of this stub in total.

Going from PSA 1 to PSA 2 is one grade and buys you 20%. Going from PSA 2 to PSA 3 is also one grade and buys you 172%. The grade number does not explain that; the population does. There are 18 copies at PSA 2 and only three at PSA 3. Price tracks how many exist at your grade, not how high the number on the label is. The PSA 4 finished at $3,050, five times the PSA 1, and its only competition in the census is a single PSA 6.

1958 World Cup Final ticket stub, Brazil vs Sweden, PSA VG-EX 4, cert 123283793
Pele's World Cup debut stub from the same tournament appeared three times in the sale as well: BGS 7 at $4,907, PSA 2 at $2,318, and an Authentic/Altered copy at $1,128. · Image: Goldin
The top of that ladder, cert 123283793 at PSA VG-EX 4. Printed for the Södra Ståplatsläktaren, the southern standing terrace at Solna, price 12 kronor, 15:00 kick-off on Sunday 29 June 1958. It sold for $3,050, which is 2% below what the last PSA 4 of this stub made in February 2023. Three and a half years, and the price is flat.

Ten consecutive lots came out of one collection

Lots 947 to 956 ran back to back and every one of them was a signed ticket in a Beckett holder. Their cert numbers give the game away: six Ronaldo lots in an unbroken block from 15782771 to 15782886, and four Messi lots from 16051914 to 16056829. Beckett issues cert numbers in sequence as items are graded, so a contiguous run means one submission, which in practice means one owner. Those ten lots made $34,983.50, 29.3% of the auction. Four more from the same cert run sold in Goldin's weekly auction two days earlier for a further $2,562, so the consignment was split across two closes.

Lots 947 to 956, one Beckett consignment broken into ten lots. Cert numbers link to our scan record.

The six Ronaldo lots together made $4,880, less than a quarter of what the single inscribed Messi lot made on its own. All six are signed tickets from Manchester United between 2003 and 2005, which is exactly the window collectors chase for a Ronaldo debut narrative, and they still traded in the $600 to $1,200 band.

Three slabs in the sale already had a price history

Three lots carried cert numbers we had already seen sell, which removes grade and condition from the comparison entirely. It is the same physical object, priced again. Cert 63854732, Messi's Champions League debut full ticket at PSA 6, sold for $210 in March 2022 and $176.90 here, down 16% over four years. Cert 91660244, a 1958 Final stub at PSA 1, sold for $690 at Fanatics Collect in September 2024 and $610 here, down 12%. The third one moved in a way neither of those did.

Sales history for a single slab is the cleanest price signal in the hobby, because there is nothing left to adjust for. It is also the strongest argument for checking where a comparable sold, not just what it made. · Image: Goldin. Prior sales: Goldin Jun 2022, Fanatics Jul 2024, Fanatics Mar 2025
Cosmos against Santos at Giants Stadium, 1 October 1977, printed face value $6.00. Cert 63251503 is a population of 1 at EX 5 with ten graded higher, so it is neither rare nor top of its ladder. It still sold four times in four years for $810, $156, $204 and finally $890.60. The two bottom results were both at Fanatics Collect; the two top results were both at Goldin. Twenty-five bidders competed for it this time against a hammer of $730.

Where the bidding stopped

Eighteen of the 32 lots finished under $1,000 and thirteen under $700. Three sold on a single bid, which means nobody competed for them at all: Mbappe's Champions League debut full ticket at $305 (population 4 at PSA 4, two higher), the Henry and Zidane shared World Cup debut full ticket at $305 (population 2 at PSA 5, one higher), and Zidane's Champions League debut stub at $122 (population 1 at PSA 2, two higher). All three are genuinely scarce at grade and all three went for the opening bid.

The distribution is the one this market keeps producing. The top lot took 27.5% of the money, the top four took 69.4%, and the remaining 22 lots split $14,360.62 between them at a median of $640.50. What separated the top from the bottom was not grade. The two lots that made the most were a PSA 9 and a BGS 8; three of the four lots that took a single bid are population 1 to 4 at their grade. What separated them was whether the ticket represented a moment enough people wanted to own.
